Se la fortuna è cieca, la crisi ha una vista d’aquila, il passo felpato di una pantera e la ferocia di leone. Sceglie le proprie prede con cura metodica, secondo una lista ordinata in maniera decrescente. Parte dunque da chi sta meglio. E questo, per fortuna mette al riparo, almeno momentaneamente la nostra Italia, anche se gli strascichi di questa situazione arriveranno e già si sentono soprattutto al nord. Al contrario le economie floride degli Stati Uniti, Germania, Regno Unito e Francia al momento non se la passano un gran che. Alle liberalissime politiche economiche e alle liberalissime guerre d’invasione democratica si sono aggiunte negli ultimi mesi misure altrettanto “liberali” come gli aiuti di stato e i salvataggi di alcuni colossi finanziari.
Ma in questa sede vorrei concentrarmi sulla situazione dei nostri cugini iberici che, dopo il tanto annunciato sorpasso nei confronti dell’economia italiana, adesso si trovano invischiati fino al collo dentro alla crisi.
Non sono bastate le vittorie sportive - Aberto Contador Giro d’Italia e Vuelta, Carlos Sastre Tour de France, Rafael Nadal n° 1 della classifica ATP del tennis e soprattutto la vittoria del Campionato Europeo di calcio - per mettere a riparo l’economia spagnola dalla tremenda crisi.
La disoccupazione cresce a ritmi preoccupanti, ad agosto era all’11,3 %, un terzo in più rispetto all’anno precedente; tra il primo e il secondo trimestre 2008 l’economia è cresciuta soltanto dello 0,1 %, il ritmo più lento dal 1993 ad oggi; inflazione record nel mese di luglio, il 5,3 %; un disavanzo commerciale che ha toccato il 10 % del PIL nel primo semestre 2008; ma il problema più grave è l’alta esposizione della finanza spagnola verso il settore immobiliare. La bolla del settore è ormai scoppiata travolgendo l’economia che ormai si avvia alla recessione.

La visione italiana della Spagna e la nostra invidia - che a torto o a ragione esiste - per l’efficienza, la serietà , i diritti civili, l’economia, potrebbe entrare adesso in crisi proprio come la finanza mondiale. Se cade anche il mito spagnolo, a noi italiani non resta che consolarci con la nostra arretratezza che stavolta ci ha salvati. E citando lo scrittore Vitalino Brancati: “Gli italiani sono disposti a tutto, a fare qualsiasi sacrificio, perfino a fare la rivoluzione, pur di rimare arretrati“.
