C’è una curiosa passione a Praga, quella delle finestre. Non costruirle, nè dipingerle, né tantomeno appenderci i panni ad asciugare, ma scavalcarle e volare di sotto. Tradizione datata quella dei praghesi, e confermata dalle recenti statistiche, che vedono nella “morte per lancio” la seconda modalità di suicidio nella capitale Ceca.
Tutto nasce in un afoso 30 Luglio 1419 , quando a seguito degli attriti fra hussiti e cattolici un gruppo di rivoltosi seguaci di Jan Hus penetrarono nel palazzo del governo cittadino, e pensarono bene di risolvere la questione lanciando sette consiglieri dalla finestra. Un volo di sette metri non avrebbe lasciato scampo ai poveri consiglieri, che insieme alla tragedia, andarono incontro anche alla beffa, finendo proprio sulle lance delle guardie poste a sorveglianza del palazzo. Risolvere le questioni sociali lanciando gli avversari dalla finestra divenne in breve uno dei tratti caratteristici della cultura ceca, se è vero che nel 1483 altri sette magistrati conobbero l’ebbrezza di un salto diretto dal quarto piano al piano terra: questa volta non c’erano le lance, ma le solide lastre di pietra della via maestra, sulle quali tutti e sette lasciarono le loro ossa più importanti. Nel 1618 all’elegante espediente ricorsero gli aristocratici, che presero sottobraccio tre delegati imperiali e li accompagnarono al finestrone più vicino, dove la forza di gravità fece il resto. In questi casi spesso non rimane al povero malcapitato che pregare per un improbabile miracolo, che, bontà divina, si manifestò in una non proprio elegante montagna di letame, che per puro caso era stata poggiata a ridosso del muro del palazzo. Un poco atletico tuffo nella fanga lasciò praticamente illesi i tre disgraziati, uno dei quali venne perfino nominato cavaliere con l’epiteto di Von Hohenfall, letteralmente “Caduto dall’Alto” (per non dire caduto sulla….). L’era moderna non ha cambiato affatto le abitudini volatili dei boemi, che nel 1948 videro il loro ministro degli esteri proiettarsi dalla finestra del bagno ministeriale. Nel 1997 alla politica si è aggiunta l’arte: il novellista Bohumil Hrabal chiuse in bellezza la propria stagione di vita, cadendo dal quarto piano nel tentativo di nutrire alcuni uccelli annidatisi sul davanzale della finestra.

I was curious if you ever considered changing the layout of your blog? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?
